A day and a nation broken in two.

I found this aticle very interesting and shokingly true it is almost kind of scary. I had never really thought about this aspect of all the tragedies that had happened on September 11, 2001. In Anna Quindlen's article she definantly uses a lot of logos and pathos to represent what she trying to portray in her article. In her atricle she is talking about 9-11 as two different days. she talks about 9-11 as being the worst day in America, as being the day where people were supposed to get up and go to work or school, and it turned out being the day that ruined many lives. she also talks about the day as being her sons birthday, so in one aspect we have to remember the day as being very horrible but then again, life goes on and we have to move on with our life and remember those birthdays, anniversarys, or any other event that happens on that day.
She does everything possible in this article to really get to the readers emotions and really draw them into the article. I had a very difficult time reading thisn and trying to hold back my tears. It is interesting in the article how she keeps asking question to really get the reader to focus on a certain thing. Throughout the article she askes, "Who are we now?" and i think that this is a very interesting question, because truly who are we now? Did the attacks really change us or did that just cause the airports to have more security and cause people to be a little more parinoid when they are traveling? She goes on in the article to say that after the attacks maybe people did do a little less traveling but life goes on and the airports went on and filled up again.
So did we really change? I beleive that we have but at the same time we haven't. It has been seven years since that horrible day and we will always remember what happened. but like she says life goes on. we can not continue to live in the past, if we did that no one would ever get anything accomplished in life.
I believe the focus in her article is to try and get us around the whole incident and move on, and one way that we could do this is to seperate it in our minds as two seperate days, one as a tragedy and the other just as a day that will go by just like every other day in the year. but people have to know that going on with their lives is not a horrible thing, you can go on but still remember the day and all the people that suffered and sacrificed on 9-11.
